Dear friends,

Warmly welcome to the Website of the Consulate General of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam at San Francisco. Since the establishment of diplomatic relations on July12^th1995, the Vietnam-US relations offriendship and cooperation have been increasingly developing for the benefits of our two peoples as well as for peace, stability and prosperity in Southeast Asia and the Asia-Pacific region as a whole. The Consulate General was established on October 31rst 1997 with an aim to further develop the friendly and cooperative relations between Vietnam and the economic, financial and scientific-technological Center of the West Coast of The USA, protect the rights and interests of the State of SRVN and its citizens in the consular district, encourage the overseas Vietnamese integrate into the local societies, maintaintheVietnamese language, cultural identities and national traditions, contributing to further development of the Vietnam-US relations of friendship and multi-faceted cooperation.

Vietnam is a Southeast Asia country, located in the center of a dynamic economic growth region with 85 million hard-working and talented people belonging 54 ethnicities, rich in natural resources, which has an age-long history and a colorful culture.Nowadays, after more than 20 years of renovation and international integration, Vietnam has established trade and diplomatic relations with 170 countries and territories and has been considered as anattractive, potential and friendly place to visit and to do business.

We hope that the website will serve as a bridge connecting The Consulate General and dear readers and as an useful address to get information about Vietnam and its people, enhancing mutual understanding and helping expand the friendship and cooperation between Viet Nam and The USA.
