The Delta region is formed by the various tributaries of the mighty Mekong River. The Mekong is one of the world's great rivers, beginning its journey in the mountains of Tibet and winding its way for 4,500 km through China, Myanmar, Laos, Cambodia and southern Vietnam. The Vietnamese name for the Mekong is "Cuu Long", meaning 'Nine Dragons', symbolizing the nine major tributaries of the Mekong that flow through the Delta to the East Sea.

Hai Phong is the largest port in northern Vietnam and serves the vital role of linking Hanoi with shipping routes in the East Sea. Though it is Vietnam's third largest city with a population of two million, you would hardly realize it from the city's relatively quiet, tree-lined streets and crumbling colonial buildings.

Halong Bay is perhaps the most spectacular of Vietnam's natural wonders.

Danang is the largest city in central Vietnam and one of the country's most important ports. Ringed by mountains on one side and the East Sea on the other, Danang has numerous sites of natural beauty and historical interest.

Nha Trang is one of Vietnam's most pleasant beach resorts. Just a 45-minute flight from Ho Chi Minh City, Nha Trang is renowned for its pristine palm tree-lined beachfront. The gentle waters of Nha Trang Bay make for enjoyable swimming, and numerous islands nearby are ideal for snorkeling and scuba diving.

Located 200 km from Saigon along Vietnam's southeastern coast, Phan Thiet is home to one of the best stretches of beach in the country. 

Sapa is situated in the country’s northwest at an altitude of 1,600 meters.

Few visitors fail to be charmed by the tiny, teeming streets and crooked houses of Hoi An, 35km from Danang. 

Hue was the seat of power of the Nguyen Emperors who ruled Vietnam from 1802 to 1945, and their impressive Citadel remains partially intact today despite the ravages of several wars.

Known to most as Saigon, Ho Chi Minh City is a city of contrasts.

Hanoi is arguably Asia's most charming capital city. Hanoi, meaning ‘where the river bends’ is a city of broad, tree-lined boulevards, elegant French villas and colonial-era buildings painted in muted hues of yellow and orange.
